  • I hate fucking gboard. I use it, but I hate it. It ballooned from 13MB to more than a hundred now, but I was still using it, with Rethink to block its internet access, but new versions started lagging if they can’t connect. So I had to revert to the version that came with my phone, it’s small and at least works even if it’s cut off from the internet. Fuck you Google for enshittifying a core part of the OS.

  • I still wouldn’t use it, but Elon should buy it so he can more convincingly posture a saviour of independent social media. Just drop the tracking, sell square ads on the sidebar based on content only, open up api for all sorts of uses and make rif is ridiculous fun for reddit the official client. Give it to five geeks to maintain and call it a public service. What’s a bit more down the drain? It’s all gonna go Midas anyways. At least that would be a win for the internets

  • I like Flatpak and despise Snap (on a personal computer, it’s tolerable on a server) enough to sudo apt remove and purge snapd from a new installation. The startup time is slow and I hate having snaps as mountpoints. It doesn’t help that Firefox is by default a Snap on Ubuntu - it feels as if you’re starting it on a mechanical HD with a Core2Duo processor and you can really appreciate how stupid having such a core app as a browser is as Snap when you add the PPA and install it as a deb package. Don’t even get me started on the asinine “we update when we want to” that makes you restart your browser at most inopportune times. I hate Snap so much it’s unreal.
