I just got an email about a new power supply board for the rpi5 - PD Power Extension Board for Raspberry Pi 5. It’s on their pihut website and is $20. Has multiple input types.

Yup, people have proven time and time again that they are willing to give up privacy for something simple like convenience. So as tech progresses so will the deterioration of any privacy we may have left.
A camp for troubled youth on Lake Toxaway? This shit just writes itself huh.
Well, I just bought a new motorcycle. Going to pick it up later and do some riding. That makes things worth living.
Here’s the way I look at it. This is your life and you get to play it out as you please. It’s really none of my business to begin with, and I am not really sure how this would come up in casual conversation, so I am hoping to most people it’s just not even a topic. I have kids, I have friends that have kids, and even with that basic amount of knowledge we don’t sit around chatting about things like that. Don’t overthink this, and keep in mind that you make your own decisions. Just because you don’t have kids doesn’t mean anything either. I have friends with no kids, and gotta say, sometimes I am a little envious. Wouldn’t change anything, but it’s nothing to feel bad about. Lighten up on yourself and just do what you want to do.
I don’t know what buttons you can remap the focus to on that model camera. I just know that I have my 5D mapped to the back * button, and have been doing that back to my 10D days.
Same. I also have an old Backbox distro that I used daily for years and every once in a while fire it back up for shits and giggles.
Lemmy seems a lot less toxic than Reddit.
Not sure I am seeing the same. I posted a message about a bash command yesterday and it was almost immediately downvoted. And I have no idea why since it should work for what the person asking wanted/needed. That was one of my big issues with reddit was the sheer negativity that came out of that site and I know I am talking about a single downvote here, but it makes me pause. It has happened more than this one time which is why I get that feeling. I think some people really need to revisit the use of the downvote.
Don’t forget things like locking everyone into their ecosystem. Case in point, Minecraft. On the pc using Bedrock I can connect to any server. Xbox and Nintendo versions I know for a fact you can only connect to approved servers. Not sure about the PS version, but I would venture it’s similar. So why would I want to limit myself by playing their locked down copy of the exact same game?
I would have to find my 5D book, but the issue there is that holding the shutter button down halfway also locks in the metering. So when you re-compose you have both the focus and metering locked. With the focus on the back button, you can separate the two, lock them to what you want, and then still re-compose the shot. My background was shooting racecars, so holding the shutter halfway and tracking wasn’t exactly something I could do. I could hold the back button down, and then just fire the shutter when I was ready. Lots of panning, so trying to be delicate with the shutter button wasn’t really a good idea for me when things got moving.
I usually remove the focus lock from the shutter button and put it on the * button on the back of my Canon bodies. I don’t have an R50 so I can’t tell you how to do it exactly on that model. This allows you to get focus, and then lock it in and recompose the shot without having to worry about the camera “deciding” that you want something else to be the focal point when you press on the shutter button. Just my quick opinion and there’s a ton more to focus settings, but that’s always been the first thing I adjust on my Canons.
Because they can retroactively undo their fuckups.
That is the numeric representation of rwxr-xr-x permissions. It’s 3 bits wide, and 4 = r, 2 = w, and 1 = x. So you add them together. 7=rwx, 5=r-x. If you wanted just read only, you would use 4. And of course 0 mean no permissons. And the bits are ordered by Owner, Group, and Everyone. 755 mean owner has full permissions, group and everyone can read and see the directory since it has x.
My uneducated guess here is that the id number for adelie has changed. Continue with this login, and then:
sudo chown -R adelie:adelie /home/adelie
Then logout and back in to see if the new /home/adelie is set to the correct id.
Other alternate headline: Pawtucket man joins 14 others in U.S. who evidently care about what is being done with their data.
I was downvoted to fuck when I suggested this as a conspiracy theory on reddit. One of the reasons I left that place, because of the toxicity. I thought it was a thought that might have had some merit. You don’t really know what’s behind the glass on that sensor.
If I would have said 30 years ago that people in the future would pay money for a device that lets companies basically spy on you, and then they can also sell the data, I would have been branded a lunatic and sent for psychiatric help. Yet, here we are.
You mean What’s down?
My son picked up a refurbished Ipad mini that we were going to use as a screen for our quadcopters. Well, you can’t load any software on it so it’s just a worthless piece of shit. Way to go apple.
