Things are fine until one day they need to plug this random peripheral/accessory and it’s not plug and play. Then they hate you forever

Still waiting for multi-monitor Linux support but it’s looking more promising
The Omninote implementation of tags works like you describe but it is Android only
Addressing/preventing future review errors were clearly addressed in this video. I feel like if that was the only thing that came up in the last week then this wouldn’t really have blown up the way it has.
Unclear what has really changed with the workplace culture and employees being overworked. They’ve implemented a bunch of extra processes that is just going to take more time and work, not less. A couple of things Linus has brought to light in this video:
The whole “our fans are the boss” attitude could really go sideways too given some of the fans track records of harassment… They really can not cultivate some in-house ethics with the 100+ people they have?
Framework laptop with a Linux OS. Still waiting for a decent phone option to come up
I guess this should be seen as an opinion piece from this dude since he does everything he complains GN does in his anal analysis of their piece…
OP says they want their accounts deleted…
It depends on where you live but you can petition the site to delete the accounts for you providing you can prove they are yours
Yeah, this is right take. People who don’t use computers for work, school, or pc gaming don’t use computers at all. All the media consumption has been taken over by tablets, and phones.
People who do use computers for work/school use whatever comes on the computers they get. The desire to experiment or mod has become near nonexistent since desktops became laptops. Just throw the old one away and get a new one and only go on it to turn in school assignments or answer work emails
Maybe the most recent ones but the exodus started long before the content freeze announcement.
This is my concern as well. A charitable reading of this might be that their decision making team’s sense of knowing what is ethical and normal has been soo shaken that they’re uncomfortable with making those decisions without outside guidance. Given Terren has only been there for six weeks though, he should be able to provide outside insight on this. The non-charitable read is that this is all for show and they’re reaching out to see what the minimally acceptable most profitable line they can toe at the moment is.
They needed a poll to make this decision? Didn’t they decide to put a halt to video production in their apology video? Or are floatplane exclusives not considered video production like selling something is different from auctioning it…?
It’s about the type of audience they want to attract moving forward. Is it the type that harasses a guy for legally buying a YouTube play button when administrative issues prevented him from getting his own until he committed suicide? Those are a large portion of the people that would have had a big problem with a humorless apology. Having your apology labelled as “generic” is not the worst thing in the world. I’m thinking Linus’s new label as ukulele boy might be worse
With a game with simplish rules like Go, I think this would work. With something more complicated like language with implicit meanings and tones, I see AI driving off a cliff and learning bad things from itself to the point where the model needs to be trashed and redone
That’s some War Games shit…The CPU usage grows through each iteration of AI learning to post better reviews and AI debunking the better reviews it has posted until there’s no more room for anything else and the LLM becomes consumed with this one task of beating itself
I don’t really know how you came to the conclusion that they want to do the right thing after everything you’ve said here. You mean they want to do whatever will make them the most money and they’ve already been up front about how accurate reporting of facts is not really their thing so they’ll report anything that makes them more profitable that the audience will buy? There’s some serious cognitive dissonance here.
I like Dave2D but it’s tech products not hardware
A friend of mine uses a soft toothbrush to brush his turtle’s shell
Yeah, they’re going to have an imperfect sample set of data doing it this way
Oh wow, TiddlyWiki, what a blast from the past
