I feel like the memes (or most of the content) on reddit kept recycling every 3/4 weeks. After you spend an year on reddit, only about 25% of the content will be new to you.
I was on Reddit for over 11 years and until maybe a year or two ago thought the complaints about reposts were way overblown. For most of that time I think the people complaining were on Reddit pretty much 24/7 and therefore saw every single post in the subs they followed. It wasn’t an issue if you spent any time away from the site.

The memes here are really fresh, I’m honestly enjoying this community a lot more than the memes subreddit.

Yeah, I appreciated the reposts to an extent because memes cycled so quickly I would often miss the original, but it definitely got stale over time.

The problem is if you sort by new and would see the same post 4 times under the last 20.
